We have hooked up with other websites such as http://benevolink.com and http://Igive.com. There are a few more out there ! We are also planning on hooking up with volunteer organizations on line as well. Today looking for grants that may work for our mission .
I need to do some research on Project Adventure that has dispersed because of funding. That was such a good resource for the people here in this community. If we could provide SUPPORT that might be a good thing to do.
Therefore our Mission: to provide Health and Education to low income families and communities will include many kinds of support. However, to make it simple,
Local: Self Support Groups - we have the fibro group already but I want to have more sub support groups and perhaps work with the arthritis foundation for some educational resources in this area.
International: Education in Africa: Casey's English as a 2nd Language as well as get more information on Mark's idea to hook up IT sources for Medical Education and Care.
Got lots of information to digest and we are still working on the event for this weekend and the silent auction on the 24th. Hopefully we can get some stuff for the yard sale too!
Got to get with the Grill about Deli donations!
Hey you guys...we need stuff for our auction...goodies and auction stuff. and of course $$$$ donations and volunteers.

More Seminars!
Another seminar today with the Mississippi Center for Nonprofit. THis time the subject is retaining and managing volunteers. We need that one!
I have been working on our fundraising activities. Casey and Betty have been doing a great job...but we still have to get some food and items for our silent auction. They have done a terrific job gathering up some good auction items. I might just jump in the bidding myself!
I just ordered some decorations. Our theme is island/luau . Fun! Anybody want to come?

Other exciting changes this week!
Besides jumping the legal battle with my ex daughter in law for visitations - cant wait to spend more time with her(Skey)...but school starts so soon! I went to the Miss Board to get my Chiro Lic reinstated. It has been expired since 1980! It was my first lic. and never kept up with it and now here I am. I dont know what I am going to do with it. Just have to give them the fee (lots of $$$)and a few HUNDRED continuing education credits. (thats all I do is education!) and looking forward to working with the Chiros here! Maybe doing some CCE for the association.
Also went to a great seminar on Fundraising sponsored by the Mississippi Center for Nonprofit and the Foundation. I cannot say enough good things about these organizations. Great seminar and good books provided. Even got 1 month on the foundation software granting seeking software. Lots of info to help us. Cant wait to put this stuff in motion. already have our website
http://m-o-r-e.org and getting information on getting on others such as benvolent.com and Igive.org. I will be working on the email list and get information out soon when I get into the groove. Taking a course in Recruiting volunteers on tues and REALLY looking forward to that.
Lots of the folks that said that they were going to help, kind of fell by the wayside! Maybe its my organizational skills!
Having a meeting today with Betty and get to meet Casey, regarding the fundraising for her project _ Education in Africia. Look forward to that. We also have a fibro meeting on tues and have to figure that one out since Betty has a class that night. Hmmmm....

Medical Organization for Relief and Education - a nonprofit
What is she doing now? Something new! Well not really...I have always loved helping people I have been in the health profession for 30+ years and now have the opportunity to put my time and energy into a non profit that will take me to foreign places (isn't the Gulf Coast foreign?):), meet new friends, have fun and help people!
It has taken me awhile to get here! Getting together a non-profit can be consuming! But we finally got legal! With the help of the Mississippi Nonprofit Center (awesome organization!) and the support of friends and my wonderful husband, we are up and running!
Our projects: (as usual - I always take on a handful!)
1. Local projects - Support groups - We have started a fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue support group at Pathwayhealth on the first tuesday of the month at 6:30. Call Betty Sue OBrien for more info.
2. International: Education Unlimited - Betty's daughter, Casey is finishing up her time in the Peace Corps and has now undertaken a new project.....a school for English as a Second language. The island is part of the Cape Verde isles off the coast of Africa. Stay tuned for more information and fundraising events.
3. International: Roatan, Honduras Clinic - Peggy Strange is a Nurse that went on a mission to this beautiful Island and started a clinic. The first floor of the hospital will be finished in Nov. 2007. Supplies, money and volunteers are needed.
Hey we need you! If you are interested in getting involved, let us know, we need people, money and things. Right now it is like a horse race....we have some sponsorship and events for the African project and Fibro support so we need to keep the momentum going.
